Evidence Summary of Volume Management for Heart Failure Patients Based on the Chronic Disease Trajectory Model
Abstract:Objective: To comprehensively retrieve and summarize evidence related to volume management in heart failure patients, and combine it with the chronic disease trajectory model to form a volume management plan for each stage of the disease, providing a reference for strengthening the volume management of heart failure patients. Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted on eight guideline websites including the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Guideline Collaboration Network (GIN), the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) of the UK, the US National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC), the Royal College of Nurses of Ontario (RNAO), the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN), the New Zealand Guideline Group (NZGG), and Medscape. Additionally, eight Chinese and English databases were searched, including the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Library, UpToDate, BMJ Best Practice, the Cochrane Library, Elsevier, PubMed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Wanfang Database, for literature related to volume management in heart failure patients. Results: Based on the chronic disease trajectory model, a volume management evidence summary consisting of six stages—stable phase, unstable phase, acute phase, crisis phase, transition phase, and deterioration phase—with 48 pieces of evidence was formed. Conclusion: The evidence summary of volume management for heart failure patients based on the chronic disease trajectory model helps to build personalized volume management plans for heart failure patients, providing a reference for strengthening their volume management. However, further standardization of the staging method and specific management plans is needed.
