Effect of the Three-Step Tuina Technique for Relaxing Tendons, Activating Blood Circulation Combined with Chinese Medicine Hot Compress on Shoulder Joint Function, Range of Motion, and Inflammatory Factors in Patients with Frozen Shoulder in the Frozen Stage
Abstract:Objective: To explore the effect of the three-step tuina technique for relaxing tendons, activating blood circulation combined with Chinese medicine hot compress on shoulder joint function, range of motion, and inflammatory factors in patients with frozen shoulder in the frozen stage. Methods: A total of 110 patients with frozen shoulder in the frozen stage admitted to the hospital from October 2021 to October 2023 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and a study group, with 55 cases in each group. Both groups received routine treatment, with the control group receiving Chinese medicine hot compress and the study group receiving the three-step tuina technique for relaxing tendons, activating blood circulation in addition. After 4 weeks, the shoulder joint function, range of motion, and inflammatory factors of the two groups were compared. Results: After intervention, the pain level, daily living ability, muscle strength, and range of motion scores of both groups increased (P<0.05), and the increase in the study group was greater than that in the control group (P<0.05). After intervention, the internal rotation, external rotation, flexion, extension, and abduction range of motion of the shoulder joint in both groups increased (P<0.05), and the increase in the study group was greater than that in the control group (P<0.05). The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), C-reactive protein (CRP), and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) in both groups decreased (P<0.05), and the decrease in the study group was more significant than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The three-step tuina technique for relaxing tendons, activating blood circulation combined with Chinese medicine hot compress can effectively improve shoulder joint function, enhance the range of motion of the shoulder joint, and reduce the inflammatory response in patients with frozen shoulder in the frozen stage.
