Application of an Information-based Closed-loop Management Model for Intravenous Infusion Reservation in Oncology Daytime Wards
Abstract:Objective: To explore the application effect of an information-based closed-loop management model for intravenous infusion reservation in oncology daytime wards. Methods: The hospital's daytime ward established an information-based closed-loop management model for intravenous infusion reservation from six aspects: infusion reservation, system notification, patient self-service registration, time-segmented infusion, orderly discharge, and quality control management. Data after the implementation of the information-based closed-loop management model for intravenous infusion reservation were selected as the observation group (October-December 2023), while data before the implementation were selected as the control group (October-December 2022). The average waiting time for patients during peak infusion periods, bed utilization rate, and patient satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results: After implementing the information-based closed-loop management model for intravenous infusion reservation, the average waiting time per patient during peak infusion periods was (15.94±2.19) minutes, which was shorter than the (38.10±6.48) minutes before implementation (P<0.05). After applying the information-based closed-loop management model for intravenous infusion reservation, the bed utilization rate was (353.22±25.42)%, higher than the (130.12±38.00)% before implementation (P<0.05). Moreover, patient satisfaction was higher after implementation than before (P<0.05). Conclusion: The information-based closed-loop management model for intravenous infusion reservation can alleviate the phenomenon of crowded and concentrated patients in oncology daytime wards, shorten the waiting time for intravenous infusion, optimize the infusion process, reduce nursing risks, and improve the quality of nursing services in daytime wards.
