Old strategies against an old plague:new attenuated tuberculosis vaccines
YIN Wen
摘要:Tuberculosis(TB) is still a global health emergency according to WHO and one of the important global control efforts targeting TB is BCG (bacille CalmetteGuérin) vaccination. However,BCG has been found to decrease only childhood TB morbidity and mortality but has a very limited effect in the transmission dynamics of the infection. One of the major explanations for this failure can be briefly summed up as:continuing attenuation and gene loss of the BCG vaccine over time[1].
