摘要：Professor Hou Shuxun, president of Orthopedic Institute of CPLA in the ifrst Afifliated Hospital of the General Hospital, has been engaged in basic and clinical research on severe extremity injuries and low back pain for years. As the ifrst investigator, he is accredited second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Awards twice and third prize once and ifrst prize of provincial-and ministerial-level awards for 3 times and second prize for 4 times. Lumbar lateral recess stenosis is first found and reported by him, which has been misdiagnosed as intervertebral disc protrusion for a long time. His theory that greater magnitude of disk disruption dose not correlate with more severe symptoms has gained wide acceptance from colleagues at home and abroad. He serves as the vice-chairman of Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine and former president of the Pacific Asian Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.
