摘要:Implantation of radioactive seeds into tumor tissues belongs to the inner irradiation, which is permanent brachytherapy seed implantation, and is also the precise conformal radiotherapy. Implantation of radioactive seeds has gradually been used in the treatment of spinal metastasis and promising results have been obtained. It can remarkably relieve pain, prevent the progression of local disease, reduce the burden of tumor, and improve patients' quality of remaining life. The therapeutic methods include radioactive seed implantation, radioactive seed implantation combined with percutaneous vertebroplasty, and radioactive seed implantation combined with surgical decompression and stabilization. Currently, it has been reported in many investigations about the outcomes of radioactive seed implantation or combined with percutaneous vertebroplasty in the treatment of spinal metastasis. Radioactive seed implantation combined with surgical decompression and stabilization is gradually booming. This review aims to explore the recent status of radioactive seed implantation in the treatment of spinal metastasis and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of these therapeutic methods.
