摘要:Impaired insulin signaling in Alzheimer's disease (AD)brains:The insulin signaling pathway is a fundamental physiological mechanism that presents in nearly all vertebrate cells.However,sometimes cells stop responding properly to insulin stimulation.This condition is known as insulin resistance,which is a hallmark of two very common conditions,metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes (T2D).Interestingly,there is also increasing evidence that insulin resistance itself may affect central nervous system (CNS) functions.Particularly,impaired insulin signaling in the brain has been linked to AD,the most common type of dementia caused by cerebral accumulation of the amyloid β (Aβ).Actually,increasing evidence suggests defective brain insulin signaling may directly play a key role in AD pathogenesis.
