Management of Otitis Media with Effusion

摘要：Otitis media with effusion is one of the most common diseases in children. Its treatment remains controversial. Clinical practice guidelines of OME allow watchful waiting for 3 months before treatment if the child with OME is not at risk for speech/language/or learning problems. Tympanostomy tube insertion is the preferred initial procedure when a child becomes a surgical candidate. Complementary or alternative medicine is not recommended as a treatment for OME. This paper provides a systematic review of management of OME, which we hope will be helpful for clinicians.
