Research on the Fine Climate Suitability Zonation of Litchi Cultivation in Maoming
Abstract:To provide a basis for the high-quality production and development of the litchi industry in Maoming, this study analyzed the relationship between meteorological conditions and litchi growth and development based on climate data from Maoming from 2007 to 2023. Using GIS technology, a fine-scale climate suitability zoning for litchi cultivation was conducted. The results showed that the five indicators for the fine climate suitability zoning of litchi cultivation in Maoming are annual precipitation, annual average temperature, cold accumulation and low-temperature rainy days from December to February of the following year, and the historical minimum temperature. Each indicator is divided into four levels: most suitable area, suitable area, less suitable area, and unsuitable area. Spatial analysis models were established for each zoning indicator. Using ArcGIS software and the model, a fine climate suitability zoning for litchi cultivation was obtained. Among them, the southern and central areas of Maoming are the most suitable areas; the western part of the northern area, the eastern part of the central area, and the northern part of the western area are in the suitable area; the less suitable and unsuitable areas are concentrated in the high-altitude mountainous areas in the northeastern part.
