Identification of Two Biocontrol Strains Against Coptis Root Rot Disease
Abstract:This study combined the methods of plate confrontation, molecular biology identification, and detection with different indicator media to screen and identify bacterial strains in the soil that have antagonistic effects against Coptis root rot pathogen, and to investigate their antibacterial mechanisms, aiming to provide better biological control methods for the prevention and control of Coptis root rot (Fusarium sp.). The results showed that two Bacillus strains, numbered BYH9 and BYH3, which exhibited significant antagonistic effects against Coptis root rot pathogen were screened from the soil. Both strains were identified as Bacillus velezensis. Antibacterial spectrum tests proved that the two strains had broad-spectrum antibacterial properties, showing significant antagonistic effects against various plant pathogenic fungi, among which the inhibitory effects on Colletotrichum capsici were the most obvious, at 66.27% and 57.66%, respectively. Specific plate tests found that both BYH9 and BYH3 could produce cellulase and phosphatase, indicating they are strains with high potential for biological control.
