Study on the Efficacy of Three New Pesticides against Cucumber Root-knot Nematode Disease
Abstract:Root-knot nematode disease is one of the most significant diseases affecting cucumber production, causing great damage to yield and quality. Due to factors such as pesticide resistance or application techniques, there is a lack of highly effective pesticides. To screen for efficient pesticides for controlling cucumber root-knot nematode disease, this experiment selected fluopyram, fluxapyroxad, abamectin-fluxapyroxad, and the local conventional control pesticide chlorpyrifos for field efficacy tests. The results showed that the 450 g/L fluopyram suspension applied by root irrigation on the day of transplanting had the best efficacy against cucumber root-knot nematode disease, with an efficacy of 81.40%. The second was the 400 g/L fluxapyroxad suspension applied by root irrigation 7 days after transplanting, with an efficacy of 79.69%. The 15% abamectin-fluxapyroxad suspension applied by root irrigation 7 days after transplanting had an efficacy of 75.02%. The efficacy of these pesticides was significantly higher than that of the control pesticide 20% chlorpyrifos emulsifiable concentrate (67.90%), and they were safe for cucumbers. In conclusion, the treatments with fluopyram, fluxapyroxad, and abamectin-fluxapyroxad showed good control effects on cucumber root-knot nematode disease and are recommended for large-scale application as control agents.
