Technical Measures for Disaster Prevention, Mitigation, and Disease Control in the Farming of Macrobrachium rosenbergii (Part 1)
Abstract:Macrobrachium rosenbergii is native to tropical and subtropical regions and is sensitive to changes in environmental factors. Its optimal growth water temperature ranges from 22 to 32°C. When the water temperature drops to 18°C, its activity decreases and feeding decreases; when the water temperature further drops below 16°C, the shrimp becomes sluggish and may eventually die. Similarly, prolonged high-temperature environments also have a significant negative impact on its healthy growth. In recent years, abnormal climate events such as prolonged high temperatures, drastic temperature drops, alternating cold and warm periods, heavy rainfall, and snowstorms have frequently occurred in aquaculture areas of Macrobrachium rosenbergii in China. These climate anomalies cause drastic changes in the aquaculture water environment, significantly increasing management difficulty, leading to issues such as water quality deterioration and increased stress responses in Macrobrachium rosenbergii.
