The applications of optical microscopy analysis in the research of briquetting

Abstract：The applications of optical microscopy analysis in the research of briquetting were summarized in this article as the macro properties of briquettes were mainly influenced by its microstructure.The theoretic basis of optical microscopy analysis and its applications in the research of briquetting were analyzed.Then the applications of optical microscopy analysis in the researches of characterization of microstructures of briquettes, formation and evolution of the microstructures and the relationships between the microstructures and the performances were investigated in detail.The problems encountered by the optical microscopy analysis were also discussed. The further efforts were suggested to focus on solving the problems of time-consuming of optical microscopy analysis, the influence of the preparation of polished surfaces to the microstructures, the limitation of accessible binders, influences of the preparation process of briquettes to the microstructures, and the relationship between the microstructure and the macro properties.
