Effect of Low-frequency Pulse Electrical Stimulation Combined with Acupoint Patching on Urinary Retention During Labor
Abstract:Objective: To explore the application effect of low-frequency pulse electrical stimulation combined with acupoint patching on urinary retention during labor. Methods: A total of 100 parturients who developed urinary retention during labor analgesia at Qingyuan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from September 2022 to September 2023 were included in the study. According to the random number table method, they were divided into two groups in a 1:1 ratio, namely the control group and the observation group. The control group received acupoint patching on the lower abdomen on the basis of routine labor care, while the observation group added low-frequency pulse electrical stimulation on the acupoints of Zhongji (CV3), Qugu (CV2), Shuifen (CV5), and Guanyuan (CV4 on the lower abdomen. The efficacy, uterine contraction condition, incidence of abnormal labor, hospitalization duration, and adverse reaction rate were observed between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of urinary retention treatment and uterine contraction condition in the observation group were better than those in the control group, while the total incidence of abnormal labor, hospitalization duration, and adverse reaction rate were lower or shorter than those in the control group. The differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The application effect of low-frequency pulse electrical stimulation combined with acupoint patching for parturients with urinary retention caused by labor analgesia is significant, which can improve urinary retention and uterine contraction conditions, reduce the incidence of abnormal labor and adverse reactions, and help shorten the hospitalization time.
