Clinical Observation of Fuzheng Guben Tongye Granules Combined with Transcutaneous Acupoint Electrical Stimulation in the Treatment of Advanced Esophageal Cancer
Abstract:Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Fuzheng Guben Tongye Granules combined with transcutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation in the treatment of advanced esophageal cancer. Methods: A total of 64 patients with advanced esophageal cancer hospitalized at Luoyang Petrochemical Hospital from March 2022 to September 2023 were selected and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 32 cases. Both groups received Anlotinib Hydrochloride Capsules treatment. In addition, the control group received transcutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation, while the observation group received Fuzheng Guben Tongye Granules combined with transcutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation. The scores of TCM syndrome indices, Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale (ESAS), Quality of Life (QOL) scale, tumor marker levels, and survival conditions were observed before and after treatment in both groups, and the safety of both groups was evaluated. Results: After treatment, the scores of symptoms such as dysphagia, phlegm vomiting, fatigue, and the ESAS scores (pain, nausea, loss of appetite, anxiety, and sleep difficulties) and tumor marker indicators [serum carbohydrate antigen 199 (CA199), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCCA), and cytokeratin 19 fragment antigen 21-1 (CYFRA21-1)] in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, while the QOL score and survival rate were higher, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Fuzheng Guben Tongye Granules combined with transcutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation can improve symptoms such as pain, nausea, anxiety, and sleep difficulties in patients with advanced esophageal cancer, effectively reduce TCM syndrome indices, lower tumor marker levels, and improve quality of life and survival rate.
