Clinical Observation on the Efficacy of the Rapid Nine Gate Acupuncture Method in Treating Severe Allergic Rhinitis in Military Personnel
Abstract：Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of the rapid nine gate acupuncture method in treating severe allergic rhinitis in military personnel. Methods: A total of 51 military personnel with moderate to severe allergic rhinitis were selected from the Dingfu Street Outpatient Clinic of the Beijing Central Medical Area, PLA General Hospital in March 2022, and were treated with the rapid nine gate acupuncture method. The changes in symptom scores before and after treatment, clinical effectiveness, nasal itching symptoms, ocular itching scores, adverse reactions, and recurrence rates were observed. Results: After treatment, the total symptom score of the patients decreased significantly compared to before treatment (P<0.05). Among them, 21 cases showed marked improvement, 25 cases were effective, and 5 cases were ineffective, with a total effective rate of 90.2%. From the perspective of individual symptoms, the scores for sneezing, rhinorrhea, nasal congestion, and nasal itching all significantly decreased compared to before treatment (P<0.05). Among the 51 enrolled patients, 48 had ocular itching symptoms, and the ocular itching scores after treatment were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05). After treatment, 31 cases experienced dizziness due to acupuncture. The recurrence rates at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months after treatment were 3.9%, 7.8%, 9.8%, and 49.0%, respectively. Conclusion: The rapid nine gate acupuncture method shows significant efficacy in treating severe allergic rhinitis in military personnel, with few adverse reactions and effective improvement of clinical symptoms.
