Observation on the Efficacy of Wenyang Tongbi Pills Combined with Huolong Can Therapy in the Perioperative Period of Total Knee Arthroplasty
Abstract：Objective: To observe and analyze the effects of Wenyang Tongbi Pills combined with Huolong Can therapy in the perioperative period of total knee arthroplasty. Methods: A total of 60 patients with knee osteoarthritis who underwent total knee arthroplasty at Meizhou Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from June 2022 to June 2023 were selected as subjects and randomly divided into observation group and control group. The control group (30 cases) received only total knee arthroplasty and routine postoperative symptomatic treatment, while the observation group (30 cases) received additional treatment with Wenyang Tongbi Pills combined with Huolong Can therapy. The efficacy, rehabilitation status, pain level, and knee flexion and extension angles were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group (86.67%) was significantly higher than that of the control group (63.33%) (P < 0.05). The Lysholm knee score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, while the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) was lower (P < 0.05). The Visual Analog Scale (VAS) score of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The knee flexion angle values during foot strike (KFA-FF), maximum knee flexion angle during stance phase (MAX-KFA-TP), and maximum knee flexion angle during swing phase (MAX-KFA-WP) of the observation group were all better than those of the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Applying Wenyang Tongbi Pills combined with Huolong Can therapy in the perioperative period of total knee arthroplasty can effectively alleviate pain, improve joint function, reduce inflammatory response, and promote patient recovery, showing good therapeutic effects.
