Clinical Efficacy of Polyethylene Glycol Combined with Four-Mo Decoction Oral Liquid in the Treatment of Constipation-Predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of polyethylene glycol combined with four-mo decoction oral liquid in the treatment of constipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-C), and to provide reference for clinical treatment. Methods: A total of 77 IBS-C patients admitted to Zhengzhou Social Welfare Institute from January 2023 to January 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group (38 cases) and an observation group (39 cases) by computer randomization. The control group received polyethylene glycol 4000 powder, while the observation group received four-mo decoction oral liquid on top of the treatment in the control group. The clinical efficacy, immune function, intestinal barrier function, and visceral sensitivity indicators before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group (92.31%) was significantly higher than that of the control group (73.68%), with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of immunoglobulin A, immunoglobulin G, D-lactate, diamine oxidase, and endotoxin in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the rectal initial sensation threshold, maximum tolerance threshold, and sustained defecation threshold in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Polyethylene glycol combined with four-mo decoction oral liquid can improve the clinical efficacy of IBS-C patients, enhance their immune function and intestinal barrier function, and regulate their visceral sensitivity.
