Clinical Study on the Treatment of Acute Gout Patients with Wuteng Xiaoyao Pills
Abstract:Objective: To explore the clinical efficacy of Wuteng Xiaoyao Pills in treating patients with acute gout (damp-heat accumulation syndrome) and its effects on serum uric acid (BUA) levels and hemorheological indicators. Methods: A total of 120 patients with acute gout (damp-heat accumulation syndrome) admitted to Zhengzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital for Bone and Joint Diseases from March 2022 to March 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, each with 60 cases. Both groups received conventional Western medical treatment, while the observation group also received Wuteng Xiaoyao Pills. After treatment, the laboratory indicators, hemorheological indicators, TCM syndrome scores, clinical efficacy, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the levels of serum C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and serum uric acid in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the whole blood viscosity, plasma viscosity, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and fibrinogen (FIB) levels in the observation group were also lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the primary and secondary syndrome scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group (96.67%) was higher than that in the control group (85.00%), with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the overall incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Wuteng Xiaoyao Pills show significant clinical efficacy in treating acute gout (damp-heat accumulation syndrome), effectively reducing inflammatory markers and serum uric acid levels, alleviating clinical symptoms, and improving hemorheological conditions.
