Effect of Combined Oral Chinese Medicine and Chinese Medicine Fumigation on Postoperative Recovery Quality and Pain Level in Patients with Mixed Hemorrhoids
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effect of combined oral Chinese medicine and Chinese medicine fumigation on postoperative recovery quality and pain level in patients with mixed hemorrhoids. Methods: A total of 60 patients with mixed hemorrhoids treated at Shangrao County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2021 to February 2022 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 30 cases in each group. The control group received Chinese medicine fumigation sitz bath treatment, while the observation group received combined oral Chinese medicine and Chinese medicine fumigation sitz bath treatment. The postoperative recovery conditions, postoperative wound pain levels, perianal edema, and serum indicators were compared between the two groups. Results: The recovery time of wound edema, wound healing time, and time for bleeding after defecation in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). On postoperative day 7, the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores and perianal edema scores of both groups were lower than those on postoperative day 1, and the observation group had lower scores than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). On postoperative day 7, the serum levels of beta-endorphin (β-EP) and interleukin-2 (IL-2) in both groups were higher than those on postoperative day 1, and the observation group had higher levels than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The application of combined oral Chinese medicine and Chinese medicine fumigation sitz bath in the treatment of patients with mixed hemorrhoids after surgery can effectively improve postoperative recovery quality, relieve postoperative pain, promote the resolution of perianal edema, and enhance the immune function of patients.
