Clinical Effect of Pediatric Massage Combined with Methylphenidate Hydrochloride in the Treatment of School-Age Children with ADHD
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of pediatric massage combined with methylphenidate hydrochloride in the treatment of school-age children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Methods: A total of 108 school-age children with ADHD treated at Zhoukou Central Hospital from April 2022 to April 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, each with 54 cases. The control group received methylphenidate hydrochloride treatment, while the observation group received additional pediatric massage on top of the control group's treatment. The clinical efficacy, TCM syndrome scores, degree of hyperactivity disorder, serum neurotransmitter levels, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores, SNAP-IV scores, and serum norepinephrine (NE) levels of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, while the serum serotonin (5-HT) and dopamine (DA) levels were higher, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the overall incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Pediatric massage combined with methylphenidate hydrochloride can enhance the clinical efficacy, improve clinical symptoms, reduce the severity of hyperactivity disorder, promote the release of serum neurotransmitters, and does not increase adverse reactions.
