Effect of Acupoint Patching with 'Zhitong San' Combined with the Three-Step Analgesic Method on Moderate to Severe Cancer Pain
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effect of combining the three-step analgesic method with 'Zhitong San' acupoint patching in the treatment of moderate to severe cancer pain. Methods: A total of 140 patients with moderate to severe cancer pain admitted to The Third Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical University from October 2021 to October 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 70 cases in each group. The control group received the three-step analgesic method, while the observation group received additional 'Zhitong San' acupoint patching on top of the control group's treatment. The clinical efficacy, cancer pain intensity, quality of life, and incidence of adverse reactions before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was 82.86%, which was significantly higher than that of the control group at 61.43%, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the NRS score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, while the KPS score was higher, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The total incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 12.86%, significantly lower than that of the control group at 61.43%, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Treating patients with moderate to severe cancer pain with the combination of the three-step analgesic method and 'Zhitong San' acupoint patching can enhance clinical efficacy, alleviate cancer pain, improve quality of life, and reduce adverse reactions.
