The Medication Experience and Prescription Thinking of Professor Chen Zexiong in Treating Patients with Liver Cancer and Tumor Survival
Abstract:Objective: To summarize the experience and prescription thinking of Professor Chen Zexiong in treating patients with liver cancer and tumor survival through analysis of prescriptions. Methods: This study statistically analyzed the data of 147 patients with primary liver cancer and tumor survival, who visited Professor Chen Zexiong's clinic from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2023, including TCM four diagnostic methods and herbal prescriptions, and summarized high-frequency drugs and formulas to reveal his academic ideas. Results: Two core prescriptions, Jianpi Jiedu Decoction (Huangqi, Yigong San, Banzhilian, Maida, Yu Jin, She shecao, Tianjihuang, E Zhu) and Eulian Chaihu Decoction (Chaihu, Huangqin, Banxia, Dangshen, Dazao, Zhigancao, Banzhilian, Yu Jin, E Zhu, She shecao, Tianjihuang), were identified, corresponding to patients with spleen deficiency and damp-heat syndrome or liver depression and damp-heat syndrome. Bayesian analysis based on symptoms indicated that the main pathogenesis of patients with liver cancer and tumor survival includes spleen deficiency, qi stagnation transforming into heat, damp-heat descending, and qi stagnation with blood stasis. It is inferred that the pathogenic mechanism chain may be: spleen deficiency leading to impaired transportation → internal generation of dampness → obstruction of middle jiao qi mechanism → liver depression transforming into fire → generating damp-heat and toxic stasis; spleen and stomach qi stagnation with blood stasis and damp-heat toxins → internal injury to qi and blood → spleen deficiency and liver depression transforming into heat. Conclusion: Based on the theory of spleen dampness, stasis, and toxicity, the core idea of Professor Chen Zexiong in treating patients with liver cancer and tumor survival is to strengthen the spleen and detoxify. Jianpi Jiedu Decoction and Eulian Chaihu Decoction are the core prescriptions, addressing the pathogenesis of spleen deficiency and impaired transportation and dampness-stasis-toxicity respectively.
