Clinical Effect of Root Canal Preparation Combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine Irrigation in the Treatment of Dental Pulp Diseases
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of root canal preparation combined with traditional Chinese medicine irrigation in the treatment of dental pulp diseases. Methods: A total of 76 patients with dental pulp diseases treated at Zhoukou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from January 2023 to January 2024 were selected as the study subjects and divided into control group and observation group according to different treatment methods, with 38 cases in each group. The control group received root canal preparation treatment, while the observation group received traditional Chinese medicine irrigation treatment on top of the control group's treatment. The clinical efficacy, levels of inflammatory factors before and after treatment, pain conditions, and periodontal indicators were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of clinical treatment in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). After treatment, the serum levels of interleukin-17 (IL-17), C-reactive protein (CRP), and nitric oxide (NO) in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). After treatment, the visual analog scale (VAS) score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The periodontal pocket depth (PD), clinical attachment level (CAL), modified plaque index (mPLI), and modified bleeding index (mSBI) of the observation group were all lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion: Root canal preparation combined with traditional Chinese medicine irrigation can enhance the clinical efficacy in patients with dental pulp diseases, inhibit the inflammatory response, reduce the degree of pain, and improve periodontal indicators.
