Application Effect of Wrist-Anti-ankle Acupuncture in Rehabilitation Intervention for Patients with Lumbar Disc Herniation
Abstract:Objective: To explore the application effect of wrist-ankle acupuncture in the rehabilitation intervention of patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH). Methods: A total of 90 LDH patients admitted to Zhengzhou Orthopedic Hospital from January 2023 to December 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 45 cases in each group. The control group received conventional rehabilitation intervention, while the observation group received wrist-ankle acupuncture intervention on top of the control group's treatment. The rehabilitation effects, lumbar pain degree, lumbar range of motion, lumbar function, and quality of life were compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. Results: The total effective rate of rehabilitation in the observation group (91.11%) was higher than that in the control group (71.11%), with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After the intervention, the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, while the lumbar range of motion, Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score, and all dimensions of the General Quality of Life Inventory (GQOLI-74) were higher in the observation group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Wrist-ankle acupuncture has a good application effect in the rehabilitation intervention of LDH patients, which can relieve lumbar pain, improve lumbar range of motion, and enhance lumbar function and quality of life.
