Experience of Professor Chen Xuezhong in Treating 'Fire Not Returning to Its Origin' Type Menopausal Sweating Syndrome with Qianyang Fengmudi Decoction Based on the Theory of 'Treating from Yang'
Abstract:Menopausal syndrome is a common syndrome in women during the perimenopausal period caused by fluctuations in sex hormones, among which sweating syndrome (vasomotor symptoms) characterized by hot flashes is the core symptom that most troubles patients. Traditional treatment mainly focuses on nourishing yin, but has poor efficacy for 'fire not returning to its origin' type sweating syndrome. Based on the theory of yang qi in the 'Huangdi Neijing', Professor Chen Xuezhong proposed the concept of 'treating from yang', emphasizing that 'yang deficiency is the root and false fire rises', and used Qianyang Fengmudi Decoction as the core formula for treating this difficult sweating syndrome. Typical case studies show that patients who were ineffective with traditional yin-nourishing methods can significantly improve their symptoms with this approach, reflecting the unique characteristics of TCM thinking of 'treating the root cause of disease', providing new ideas for the treatment of menopausal sweating syndrome.
