Clinical Value of Routine Coagulation Parameters Combined with D-Dimer Testing in the Diagnosis of Early-Stage Lung Cancer
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the clinical value of routine coagulation parameters combined with D-dimer (D-D) testing in the diagnosis of early-stage lung cancer. Methods: A case-control study design was used. Clinical data from 80 patients with early-stage lung cancer (early lung cancer group), 60 patients with benign pulmonary nodules (benign nodule group), and 55 healthy individuals without lung disease (healthy control group) who underwent biopsy and were diagnosed at Zhenghe County Hospital between February 2023 and February 2025 were collected. Plasma levels of D-D, fibrinogen (FIB), prothrombin time (PT), and activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) were compared among the three groups. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were plotted to analyze the diagnostic value of D-D, FIB, PT, APTT alone and in combination for early-stage lung cancer. Results: The plasma levels of D-D and FIB were higher in the early lung cancer group than in the benign nodule group and the healthy control group, and the benign nodule group had higher levels than the healthy control group. PT and APTT were longer in the early lung cancer group compared to the benign nodule group and the healthy control group, and the benign nodule group had longer PT and APTT than the healthy control group. The differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve (AUC) for D-D, FIB, PT, APTT alone and in combination were 0.780, 0.773, 0.746, 0.636, and 0.894 (P < 0.05), respectively. The AUC for combined diagnosis was higher than that of any single test. Conclusion: Coagulation dysfunction is an important biological feature of early-stage lung cancer. The combination of FIB, PT, APTT, and D-D has certain predictive value in diagnosing early-stage lung cancer.
