Effect of Xingsu Erchen Decoction Combined with Moxifloxacin on Clinical Efficacy, Pulmonary Function, and Inflammatory Factors in Patients with Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effect of Xingsu Erchen Decoction combined with Moxifloxacin on patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). Methods: A total of 80 patients with AECOPD admitted to Zhumadian Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from April 2021 to April 2024 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, each with 40 cases. The control group received Moxifloxacin treatment, while the observation group received Xingsu Erchen Decoction combined with Moxifloxacin treatment. The treatment effects, symptom scores before and after treatment, pulmonary function, inflammatory indicators, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the scores for cough and wheezing in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the ratio of forced expiratory volume in one second to forced vital capacity (FEV1/FVC) and the forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum levels of interleukin (IL)-8, IL-18, gamma-interferon (IFN-γ), and procalcitonin (PCT) in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions such as nausea, palpitations, diarrhea, and rash between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Xingsu Erchen Decoction combined with Moxifloxacin can promote the recovery of pulmonary function in patients with AECOPD, alleviate clinical symptoms and inflammatory responses, and has a definite therapeutic effect.
