Observation on the Efficacy of Tension Balance Acupuncture Combined with Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in Patients with Cerebral Infarction in the Recovery Period of Qi Deficiency and Blood Stasis Syndrome
Abstract:Objective: To observe the efficacy of tension balance acupuncture combined with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in patients with cerebral infarction (CI) in the recovery period of qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome. Methods: A total of 120 patients with qi deficiency and blood stasis type CI in the recovery period treated at Shenzhen Luohu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from February 2022 to February 2025 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into four groups: control group, acupuncture group, rTMS group, and combination group, with 30 cases in each group. The control group received conventional treatment, while the acupuncture group received tension balance acupuncture on the basis of the control group, the rTMS group received rTMS treatment, and the combination group received both treatments. The neurological function, activities of daily living (ADL), motor function, TCM syndrome scores, clinical efficacy, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared before and after treatment among the four groups. Results: Based on the full analysis set (FAS): After treatment, the NIHSS score and total TCM syndrome score of the combination group were lower than those of the control group, while the MBI score and FMA score were higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The acupuncture group had a lower NIHSS score and a higher FMA (lower limb part) score than the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The total effective rate of TCM syndrome and Western medicine clinical effectiveness in the combination group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). No adverse reactions were observed in any of the four groups. The results of the per protocol set (PPS) were consistent with those of the FAS, indicating robustness of the results. Conclusion: Tension balance acupuncture combined with rTMS can effectively promote the recovery of neurological function in patients with qi deficiency and blood stasis type CI in the recovery period, improve their ADL, enhance motor function, alleviate clinical symptoms, and enhance clinical efficacy without increasing adverse reactions, making it a safe and effective treatment regimen.
