Guidelines for the Treatment of Locally Advanced Cervical Cancer (2025 Edition)
Abstract:1 Background Cervical cancer is the fourth most common malignant tumor in women worldwide and also the most common malignant tumor of the female reproductive tract [1]. Although China is gradually promoting human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination and has established a relatively complete cervical cancer screening system, the incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer remain high, especially in economically underdeveloped areas. The treatment outcome for early-stage cervical cancer is good, with a 5-year overall survival rate exceeding 90% [2], but for locally advanced cervical cancer, the 5-year disease-free survival rate and overall survival rate are 68% and 74%, respectively [3], indicating a poor prognosis. Data show that globally, 37% of cervical cancer patients are diagnosed at the locally advanced stage, and in developing countries including China, this proportion exceeds 50% [4], posing a serious threat to women's health. Currently, there is still significant controversy in the diagnosis and treatment of locally advanced cervical cancer. Standardized diagnosis and treatment are of great significance for improving survival rates and patient prognosis. Therefore, the Cervical Cancer Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association has summarized the current clinical evidence on locally advanced cervical cancer, combined with China's economic, medical conditions, and patient-related factors, to develop an appropriate clinical practice guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of locally advanced cervical cancer in China, aiming to guide and standardize the clinical diagnosis and treatment of locally advanced cervical cancer in China, and improve the treatment level and survival rate of patients with this disease.
