The Effect of Health Education Models Based on Virtual Reality Technology on the Awareness and Acceptance of HPV Vaccination Among Women of Childbearing Age
Abstract:Objective: To explore the effect of health education models based on virtual reality technology on the awareness and acceptance of human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination among women of childbearing age. Methods: From January 2022 to January 2024, a total of 506 women of childbearing age who had not received the HPV vaccine were enrolled at Zouchun District People's Hospital of Zibo City. They were randomly divided into a control group (receiving conventional health education strategies) and an observation group (receiving health education based on virtual reality technology), with 253 cases in each group. The impact of different hospital-based health education programs on the awareness and acceptance of HPV vaccination was evaluated. Results: After the intervention, the score of HPV vaccination awareness in the observation group was (8.03±1.04) points, which was higher than that of the control group (6.92±1.07) points, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). The acceptance rate of HPV vaccination in the observation group was 58.10%, higher than that of the control group (48.62%), with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). Before the intervention, there was no statistically significant difference in the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) scores of HPV disease and vaccines between the two groups (P > 0.05); after the intervention, the scores of both groups increased, and the observation group was higher than the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). The total satisfaction score of the observation group was (112.73±4.69) points, higher than that of the control group (87.87±2.19) points, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Compared with conventional health education strategies, the health education model based on virtual reality technology can significantly improve the awareness and acceptance of HPV vaccination among women of childbearing age, reduce negative emotions, and enhance the satisfaction of health education.
