Research on Differentiated Lightning Protection Technology for Overhead Transmission Lines
Abstract:Taking a 220 kV overhead transmission line in Yantai City, Shandong Province as the research object, this study uses numerical simulation methods to analyze the voltage fluctuation process at both ends of the tower insulators under different lightning current conditions, and proposes corresponding differentiated lightning protection measures. The results show that the lightning hazard of the overhead transmission lines in the study area has a certain positive correlation with the number of lightning occurrences. After 2018, the tripping rate of the overhead transmission lines was relatively low, and the ground flash density showed a continuous downward trend. When the lightning current is 120 kA, the voltage waveform on both sides of the lightning strike point of the overhead transmission line shows a roughly symmetrical change pattern, but none of the three-phase insulators on the tower have experienced flashover. When the lightning current is 125 kA, the voltage waveforms on both sides of the lightning strike point of the overhead transmission line show intense voltage fluctuations within a time range of 0.15 ms, and after 0.15 ms, the voltage amplitude tends to converge. The lightning withstand level of the overhead transmission line is 120 kA.
