A Cost Analysis of Three PET/CT Facilities

摘要：The aim of this study was to conduct a cost and efficiency analysis of PET/CT institutions, and how to collocate and utilize PET/CT device and related medical resource were expatiated. Three PET facilities were investigated about the costs and efficiency (Two facilities that using delivery FDG, one facility that had cyclotron, which can produce FDG by itself); the break-even point was analyzed in each of three institutions. In the three hospitals (A, B and C), the annual number of PET/CT scan were 1238, 802 and 753, respectively, while cost per scan was accounted as 7500 RMB in all three hospitals, the break-even point was calculated to be 1509, 862 and 798, respectively. PET/CT facilities utilizing delivery FDG seemed to have difficulty in business administration. Such a situation suggests the possibility that the current supply of PET/CT facilities might exceed actual demand for the service, which can lead to the medical resource waste. The efficiency of resource allocation should be taken into consideration by the government and health service researches on PET/CT and related medical devices in the future.
