Current Status and Influencing Factors of Adversity Quotient Among New Nurses in Tertiary A-Class Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospitals
Abstract:Objective: To explore the level of adversity quotient (AQ) among new nurses (referred to as new nurses) in traditional Chinese medicine hospitals and its influencing factors, providing a reference for achieving high-quality management of nursing human resources. Methods: A convenience sampling method was used from June to July 2023, and a questionnaire survey was conducted on 399 new nurses in tertiary A-class traditional Chinese medicine hospitals in Jiangsu Province using the general information questionnaire, adversity quotient scale, feedback-seeking behavior scale, and psychological resilience scale. Results: The total score of adversity quotient among new nurses in traditional Chinese medicine hospitals was (133.14±8.37), the total score of feedback-seeking behavior was (49.76±13.54), and the total score of psychological resilience was (64.30±18.16). Single-factor analysis showed that gender, whether they were only children, personality traits, and whether they had received psychological training had an impact on their AQ levels (P<0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that gender, personality traits, whether they had received psychological training, and psychological resilience level were the main factors affecting the AQ levels of new nurses in traditional Chinese medicine hospitals. Conclusion: The AQ level of new nurses in traditional Chinese medicine hospitals is at a moderate level. New nurses who are female, have extroverted personality traits, have received psychological training, and have higher psychological resilience tend to have higher AQ levels. Therefore, when assisting new nurses in traditional Chinese medicine hospitals to establish a positive mental state during their standardized training period and improve their AQ levels, it is necessary to adjust according to individual conditions and build targeted intervention programs.
